Lisbon, June 30, 2025 (Lusa) - EDP Renováveis (EDPR) has signed a long-term contract for 60 megawatts of storage in Poland with Axpo Polska, the company announced on Monday before the market opened.
According to the statement to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM), with this agreement “EDPR secures revenues under a floor structure and revenue sharing for a 60 megawatts (241 megawatt-hours) battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Poland”.
At the end of 2024, the project secured a capacity payment contract through Poland’s primary capacity market auction, and this contract will accumulate with the existing agreement, leading to a high contracted net present value, in line with EDPR’s investment criteria, the EDP subsidiary added in the note.
This project is expected to start commercial operation in 2027.
“With this agreement, one of the first private transactions of its kind in Poland, EDPR reinforces its commitment to innovation and the development of new technologies, highlighting its critical role in energy storage, maximising the potential of renewable energies, promoting the acceleration of the energy transition and the decarbonisation of the economy,” the company said.
