ATA - Govt. approves 20% cut in excise duties to offset fuel costs, Malaj says

TIRANA, April 3  /ATA/ Minister of Finance Petrit Malaj announced the approval of the Normative Act to reduce excise duties, a concrete measure undertaken by the Albanian government to offset the impact of rising fuel prices caused by the conflict in Iran and international market fluctuations.

The act stipulates a 20% reduction in excise duties if the retail price, as determined by the Transparency Board, exceeds 220 lek per liter for diesel and 200 lek per liter for gasoline.

The measures shall remain in effect until the stabilization of the international situation, thereby ensuring the protection of citizens, the state budget, and the national economy during this critical period.

Minister of Finance Malaj said Albania was fully committed to tackling challenges responsibly, shielding citizens from the financial repercussions of the conflict while safeguarding the state budget and national economy at a critical juncture for the global market.
