Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Final season of "Rabo de Peixe" hits Netflix on 10 April

Ponta Delgada, Portugal, March 17, 2026 (Lusa) - Netflix said on Tuesday that the third and final season of the series "Rabo de Peixe" would arrive on this streaming platform on 10 April.

Produced by Ukbar Filmes and RB Filmes, the third season, which "promises a grand finale", was directed by Augusto Fraga and Patrícia Sequeira, Netflix revealed on Tuesday in a statement that also presents the official trailer, poster, and new images.

"In this third season, after three years in prison, Eduardo (José Condessa) returns to Rabo de Peixe, a town shaken by economic and political interests that threaten to evict families, end fishing and change the island forever," according to the synopsis released by the streaming platform.

"United by an indestructible friendship, the four decide to create 'Justiça da Noite', a clandestine and vigilante movement rooted in the community, which operates in the shadows to return power to those who have been silenced for too long. But, as the revolt grows, the line between resistance and violence becomes increasingly fragile: when justice is done at night, someone pays the price in the light of day".

The main cast of the series "returns for one last adventure full of action, justice and revenge", with José Condessa, Helena Caldeira, Rodrigo Tomás and André Leitão.

They will again be accompanied by Maria João Bastos, Salvador Martinha, Afonso Pimentel, Kelly Bailey and Victória Guerra, who are joined by Joaquim de Almeida, Ângelo Rodrigues and Inês Castel-Branco.

In October 2024, Netflix announced that "Rabo de Peixe" would have two more seasons — the second and third — with simultaneous filming, involving directors João Maia and Patrícia Sequeira, with the second premiering on 17 October 2025.

"Rabo de Peixe", which began in May 2023, is a Ukbar Filmes production with Netflix, based on an idea by Augusto Fraga.

The story is inspired by a true event in 2001, when a sailboat sank with half a tonne of cocaine on board, with much of the drug washing ashore near Rabo de Peixe, on the island of São Miguel.

From these facts, a fiction was built about four friends who, in possession of several kilograms of drugs, aim to change their lives, and about a police investigation into that shipwreck.

"Rabo de Peixe" was the second Portuguese-language fiction series produced for Netflix, after "Glória" (2021), by Pedro Lopes, directed by Tiago Guedes, and reached the top of the global list of most-watched non-English-language series.

Because of the series, in 2023 the Ribeira Grande municipality, on the island of São Miguel, decided to launch a tourist itinerary identifying the main filming locations of "Rabo de Peixe", as a way of boosting the local economy.

In October 2025, the then mayor of Ribeira Grande, Alexandre Gaudêncio, told Lusa that the tourist route created more tourism.

Indirectly, the interactive guide (accessible via mobile phone) has led "hundreds of tourists" to walk the streets of Rabo de Peixe daily to "visit the locations where the Netflix series was set", he said.

The interactive guide to the main filming locations of the series "Rabo de Peixe" is available for iOS and Android.
