Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes with benchmark index flat on Wednesday

Lisbon, Aug. 26, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed flat on Wednesday, with the PSI rising by 0.01% to 9,446.39 points, buoyed by the two listed companies in the EDP group and by BCP.

Of the 16 listed companies that make up the national benchmark index, seven closed in positive territory, eight in negative territory, and CTT ended unchanged at €6.55.

Among the heavyweights supporting the PSI's performance were, above all, BCP and the two listed companies in the EDP group: EDP Renewables rose 0.29% to €13.81, whilst the ‘parent company' advanced 0.28% to €4.70.

Shares in BCP bank rose by 0.27% to €1.11.

Also among the gainers, Ibersol rose 0.78% to €10.38, NOS gained 0.28% to €4.96, Sonae SGPS rose 0.25% to €2.03 and REN rose 0.14% to €3.57.

Conversely, leading the falls was Corticeira Amorim, which fell by 0.85% to €7.00, followed by Galp Energia, which retreated by 0.61% to €21.15, and Semapa, which fell by 0.48% to €20.65.

In the other major European markets, the French CAC-40 rose by 0.27%, the German DAX advanced by 0.08% and the Spanish IBEX-35 gained 0.05%. By contrast, the British FTSE 100 fell by 0.07%.
