The Italian Soccer Federation (FIGC) has decided to withdraw its support for Gianni Infantino's candidacy for a new term as FIFA president in elections scheduled for March 2027, ANSA has learned.
    Infantino, 56, has faced criticism for his close ties to United States President Donald Trump, which allegedly led to a US striker's suspension being scrubbed in the recent World Cup, and for his since-aborted plan to sell off stakes in world soccer's ruling body to private investors.
