Lisboa, March 18, 2026 (Lusa) - Significant news moments from the 40-year history of the Lusa Agency can be seen in 14 photographs starting on Wednesday on a post office (CTT) postcard, marking the company’s association with the Portuguese news agency’s 40th anniversary.

The launch of the "postal stationery" was marked today at the post office headquarters in Lisbon by the company's CEO, José Bento, and the Chair of the Board of Lusa, Joaquim Carreira. Lusa's 40th anniversary will be commemorated with a postcard, a stamp, and a postmark. "This initiative to launch the 40th-anniversary postal stationery with CTT is a symbolic milestone intended to honour all the workers who have shaped Lusa's history over these 40 years, allowing the agency to be recognised as an institution that provides impartial, rigorous, and credible news services – exemplarily fulfilling its public service mission,"  Joaquim Carreira said.

He also underlined that this postcard is launched for "Lusa's future". "This is also a postcard launched for the future of Lusa, where the values we practice are increasingly paramount for the media sector and for democracy," he added.

The CTT postcard marking Lusa’s 40th anniversary, celebrated this year, features agency photographs documenting historical moments spanning sport, politics, and culture in which Lusa was present.

Ten years ago, a CTT postcard featuring 24 Lusa photographs was also launched to mark the agency's 30th anniversary.

The launch of the "postal stationery" was also marked at CTT headquarters in Lisbon, when the chairs of both companies cancelled and signed the first copies.
