Italy's annual inflation rate rose to 1.5% in February from 1.0% in January, Istat said on Tuesday.
The national statistics agency said its consumer price index was up by 0.7% in month-on-month terms.
The agency revised down the figures with respect to its preliminary estimates, which had put the annual inflation inflation rate at 1.6% in February and the month-on-month rise at 0.8%.
It said its 'shopping trolley' index of the prices of food, household goods, and personal care products rose by 2.0%, up from 1.9% in January.
It said core inflation - excluding energy and fresh food - leapt from 1.7% in January to 2.4% in February.
"The significant acceleration is mainly due to price changes in recreational, cultural, and personal care services (+4.9%) and transportation services (+2.9%); the prices of unprocessed food (+3.7%) also contribute to the overall inflationary trend," Istat said.
