Lusa - Business News - Portugal: 65th edition of ModaLisboa in October with more moments open to public

Lisbon, Sept. 10, 2025 (Lusa) - ModaLisboa's 65th edition, scheduled for October, will have more moments open to the public, namely in a new space, installed in Palacete Gomes Freire, where there will be a temporary shop, exhibitions, performances, and talks, the organisers announced on Wednesday.

The 65th edition of Lisbon Fashion Week will take place between 1 and 5 October and will once again have Pátio da Galé in Terreiro do Paço as its “epicentre”, extending to other locations in the city centre, the organisation announced at a press conference in Lisbon.

In addition to this edition taking place over five days instead of the usual four, ModaLisboa is launching a new project: Fashion House. According to the president of the ModaLisboa Association, speaking to Lusa, the Fashion House will be open for four days at Palacete Gomes Freire, at 98 Rua Gomes Freire.

The space will be free to enter and open to everyone, except for the presentations of the collections by Roselyn Silva, Ana Margarida Feijão and Gandaia, due to public restraint.

The Fashion House will host a ModaLisboa pop-up shop, presentations, exhibitions, performances, happenings and talks, the latter "on issues focused on fashion: sustainability, technology, etc".

The space will be open regardless of the fashion shows, accessible by invitation only, taking place at the other venues: Pátio da Galé and MUDE - Museu do Design.

Pátio da Galé will host a new edition of the Sangue Novo (New Blood) competition, aimed at finalists on fashion design courses at national and international schools and young designers at the start of their careers, and the presentation of proposals by Alves/Gonçalves, 2B, Luís Onofre, Gonçalo Peixoto, Kolovrat, Carlos Gil, DuarteHajime, Valentim Quaresma, Dino Alves and Luís Carvalho.

Also at Pátio da Galé will be the collections of WorkStation designers: ARNDES, Bárbara Anastásio, Mestre Studio, Çal Pfungst, Francisca Nabinho and Gabriel Silva Barros.

The first three shows have the support of a hair salon and hair products brand, which, in addition to logistical support, has awarded ARNDES, Bárbara Anastásio, Mestre Studio, grants worth 2,600 euros.

MUDE will host Fast Talks, a public debate space subject to prior registration, featuring the final presentation of the “beat by be@t” sustainability project, as well as presentations from Olga Noronha, Béhen, and Nuno Baltazar.

On the opening day of the Fashion House, 2nd October, there will be another new event: ModaLisboa na Avenida, with free admission and in partnership with the Avenida da Liberdade Association.

On that day, "there will be a series of events in various Avenida da Liberdade shops, which will be subject to their own programme to be launched in due course," said Eduarda Abbondanza.

Although the 65th edition will take place from 1 to 5 October, on 30 September, there will be a kick-off at the Italian Embassy, "with an evening dedicated to the new names in the IED network - Istituto Europeo di Design", an international school with which ModaLisboa has had a protocol in the Sangue Novo competition for several years.

ModaLisboa is co-organised by the ModaLisboa Association and the Lisbon City Council.
