Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market trading lower with Mota-Engil falling 2.77%

Lisbon, Aug. 29, 2025 (Lusa) - The Portuguese stock market was losing 0.47% on Friday morning to 7,765.97 points, with Mota-Engil down 2.77%, in line with the main European markets which opened in negative territory.

Just over an hour after the market opened, of the 15 shares that make up the PSI, Portugal's main index, nine were falling, two were unchanged (NOS and Ibersol) and four were in positive territory.

Construction co mpany Mota-Engil led the losses, falling 2.77% to €4.91, followed by BCP, which lost 1.45% to €0.72.

The energy sector followed with losses of less than 1%: EDP Renováveis (-0.78% to €10.16), EDP (-0.57% to €3.81) and Galp Energia (-0.15% to €16.60).

Sonae fell 0.47% to €1.28, Navigator lost 0.42% to €3.31 and CTT fell 0.27% to €7.36.

Altri was also in negative territory (-0.2% to €5.02).

Conversely, REN gained 0.50% to €3.01, followed by Jerónimo Martins (+0.38% to €21.12), Corticeira Amorim (+0.26% to €7.57) and Semapa (+0.11% to €17.72).

At around the same time, losses in Europe ranged from 0.85% on the Madrid stock exchange (IBEX 35) to 0.33% in London (FTSE 100).

The Lisbon stock market opened today in positive territory, but quickly reversed the trend.
