Lisbon, Aug. 4, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Monday, following the positive trend seen among its European counterparts, driven by rises of 4% in BCP bank and 5% in civil engineer Mota-Engil.
The PSI (Portuguese Stock Index) benchmark index gained 1.35% to 7,729.71 points, with only four of the 15 listed companies in the red and the rest in positive territory.
Leading the gains was Mota-Engil, which advanced 5.72% to €4.69, followed by BCP, which rose 4% to €0.74, and Jerónimo Martins, which added 2.92% to €21.14.
With increases above 1% were CTT, whose shares gained 2.19% to €7.47, REN, which rose 1.52% to €3.01, Sonae, which appreciated 1.27% to €1.27, and NOS, which grew 1.09% to €3.69.
Among the losers were EDP Renováveis, which fell 0.29% to €10.31, Galp Energia, which fell 0.25% to €16.29, and Semapa, which fell 0.80% to €17.36.
In the main European markets, the day also saw gains of around 1% in their principal indexes, Paris rose 1.14%, Frankfurt 1.42%, Madrid 1.84% and London 0.66%.
