Porto, Aug. 8, 2024 (Lusa) - Salsa Jeans, part of Portugal's Sonae group, has strengthened its international presence by entering Jordan and is preparing to debut in a new country in the Caucasus and Middle East region, the company announced on Thursday.
In a statement, Salsa - which is part of Zeitreel, the fashion business unit of the Sonae group - said that the expansion into Jordan "was realised through a franchising partnership with the Azadea Group, which "has a leading position in fashion retail in the region and represents more than 50 global brands in the Middle East."
The franchising partnership with Azadea Group already includes 12 shops in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon.
An official source at the Portuguese brand told Lusa that as this is its first shop in Jordan "there is still no defined expansion plan for this market."
Asked about the brand's international growth plans in other countries, the source said that "as part of its internationalisation strategy, Salsa will continue to expand its presence in the markets where it is already present, with new openings planned in Europe, as well as entering a new country in the Caucasus and Middle East region."
In a statement released on Thursday, Salsa explains that the shop in Jordan is located in Amman, in the Taj Lifestyle Centre, which is presented as "the city's main premium shopping centre."
With an area of 120 square metres, the outlet sells men's and women's clothing developed in Portugal, as well as footwear and accessories, and the shop concept was "designed to provide a relaxed atmosphere and a comfortable and pleasant shopping experience."
The entry into Jordan is part of the international expansion strategy of the jeans and denim clothing brand, which is currently present in more than 40 countries through its own outlets, franchised and multi-brand shops, with more than 190 spaces in all, and its online channel.
"Our ambition is to continue to expand our activity in the markets where we are already present, but also in new markets, taking our products to more and more people," said Hugo Martins, CEO of Salsa Jeans, quoted in the statement.
