Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Most shares in PSI benchmark red, with Altri, BCP down over 1.4%

Lisbon, Oct. 7, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market was trading lower on Wednesday morning, with 13 of the PSI's constituent shares falling, led by Altri and BCP, both down by more than 1.4%.

At around 9:30 a.m. in Lisbon, the PSI stood at 9,384.33 points, down 0.38%, with 13 companies falling and three rising.

Altri and BCP fell by 1.45% to €4.41 and 1.43% to €1.17, respectively.

Following Altri and BCP were Corticeira Amorim, EDP and Semapa, which fell by 1.03% to €6.75, 0.91% to €4.78 and 0.83% to €19.12, respectively.

CTT, Mota-Engil and REN also fell, retreating 0.59% to €5.89, 0.54% to €4.80 and 0.42% to €3.53.

To a lesser extent, EDP Renováveis, Teixeira Duarte and Navigator fell by 0.40% to €12.50, 0.32% to €0.46 and 0.26% to €3.08, respectively.

The other two companies whose share prices fell were Jerónimo Martins (-0.24% to €16.87) and Galp (-0.14% to €21.94).

Conversely, Ibersol, Sonae and NOS rose by 0.81% to €9.95, 0.49% to €2.04 and 0.19% to €5.41 respectively.

In Europe, the main stock markets opened lower today amid further rises in oil prices and sovereign bond yields to near-record levels, pointing to further increases in key interest rates.

The euro fell against the dollar, remaining below $1.13, close to its lowest level since 1 May 2025, and fell 0.46% to $1.1207 on the Frankfurt foreign exchange market.

Investors anticipate further rises in key interest rates, particularly after the Reserve Bank of India's decision today to raise its benchmark interest rate to 5.50%, marking the first increase in nearly four years amid the resurgence of conflict in the Middle East.

Yields on ten-year government bonds were hovering near the decade-high levels reached in recent days, with US yields back at 5.304% and German yields at 3.498%.

As for oil, the benchmark Brent crude contract in Europe rose 0.65% to $101.23 per barrel today.

Today, the European Commission is updating its oil bulletin, which includes the average price trends for petrol and diesel over the past week across the 27 Member States of the European Union.

On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump stated that it would be known «very soon» whether the war in Iran would come to an end «for better or for worse», amid mounting electoral pressure with less than a month to go before the mid-term elections.

US index futures are down 0.21% for the Dow Jones and 0.15% for the tech-heavy Nasdaq, after closing higher on Tuesday, up 0.49% and 0.45% respectively.

On Tuesday, the Nasdaq closed at a new high.

The US Federal Reserve (Fed) is publishing the minutes of its latest monetary policy meeting today, at which it raised key interest rates for the first time since July 2023 by 25 basis points to a range of 3.75% to 4%, whilst the minutes of the European Central Bank (ECB) meeting will be released on Thursday.

The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, is also scheduled to speak today on the global economic outlook, whilst Germany's industrial production figures and France's trade balance for August are due to be published.
