Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Diesel set to drop €0.11, petrol €0.05 next week

Lisbon, June 19, 2026 (Lusa) - Fuel prices in Portugal are expected to fall next week, with diesel set to drop by around 11 cents per litre and petrol by five cents, according to estimates provided to Lusa by market sources.

Based on current figures from the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (DGEG) and taking into account forecasts of price falls following the market opening on Monday, the average price of regular 95 petrol is expected to stand at €1.868 per litre, whilst regular diesel is expected to be €1.745 per litre.

The final average will only be confirmed at the end of the day and may still be subject to change depending on developments in international oil prices, whilst the final price at the pump may vary depending on the petrol station, the brand and the location.

The fall in prices comes against a backdrop of reduced pressure on international markets, following the easing of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

The presidents of the United States, Donald Trump, and of Iran, Massoud Pezeshkian, signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday establishing an end to hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon, as well as the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to shipping.

The memorandum of understanding sets a 60-day deadline – starting yesterday – for the negotiation of a definitive peace agreement, which is to be ratified through a binding resolution of the UN Security Council.
