Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes green, most shares rising, Galp gushing 2.5%

Lisbon, Oct. 22, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Wednesday, rising 0.40% to 8,305.43 points, with most listed companies closing in the green, notably Galp, which advanced 2.52%.

Thus, of the 16 listed companies that are included in the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Share Index), 12 rose and four fell.

Leading the gains was Galp, which rose 2.52% to €16.45.

On Wednesday, the company said it wants to accelerate the connection of production wells in the Bacalhau field, in the Santos Basin, southeast of Ilhabela off the state of São Paulo, Brazil, to reach the maximum capacity of its FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading vessel). It also maintained its forecast that by the end of the year it will find a partner with an "appetite" for the development of the oil exploration project off Namibia.

Also rising were Sonae (1.73% to €1.41), Altri (1.52% to €5.02), Corticeira Amorim (1.39% to €7.31), Navigator (1.11% to €3.11), Teixeira Duarte (0.93% to €0.65), CTT (0.88% to €6.91), NOS (0.81% to €3.75), Mota-Engil (0.43% to €5.78), REN (0.32% to €3.11), Jerónimo Martins (0.30% to €20.34) and Semapa (0.11% to €17.70).

The declines were led by EDP Renováveis, which fell 1.05% to €13.24, followed by Ibersol, which fell 0.99% to €10, BCP, which fell 0.29% to €0.75, and EDP, which fell 0.07% to €4.45.

Elsewhere in Europe, the main markets closed mixed, with London and Madrid advancing 0.93% and 0.09%, respectively, and the remaining markets falling. Paris fell 0.63%, Frankfurt 0.74% and Milan 1.03%.
