Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes higher with EDPR sparking over 5%

Lisbon, Oct. 1, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Wednesday, with the PSI index advancing 1.05% to 8,041.23 points, with EDP Renováveis standing out, rising more than 5%.

Of the 16 companies included in the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Share Index), eight rose and eight fell.

Leading the gains was EDP Renováveis, which rose 5.54% to €11.82.

Other major gains included Galp, which rose 3.26% to €16.63, EDP, which rose 1.88% to €4.11, and BCP, which rose 1.27% to close at €0.76.

With increases of less than 1% were Navigator (€3.29), Ibersol (€10.05), REN (€3.07) and Semapa (€18.28).

In the opposite direction, Jerónimo Martins led the declines, falling 3.48% to €19.98.

Also noteworthy were Mota-Engil, which fell 1.96% to €5.00, and Teixeira Duarte, which fell 1.13% to €0.53.

Sonae SGPS (€1.33), NOS (€3.87), Altri (€4.99), CTT (€7.23) and Corticeira Amorim (€7.19) all fell by less than 1%.

Elsewhere in Europe, the main indexes in London rose 1.03%, Frankfurt 0.98%, Paris 0.90% and Madrid 0.41%.
