Lisbon, Sept. 24, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Wednesday, with the PSI index rising 1.32% to 7,914.88 points, with EDP Renováveis standing out with a rise of more than 6%.
Of the 16 companies listed on the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Share Index), nine rose, six fell and Semapa remained unchanged at €18.16.
Leading the gains was EDP Renováveis, which rose 6.19% to €11.32.
EDP Renováveis shares have soared on the stock market since a US federal court decided to authorise Danish company Orsted to resume construction work on the Revolution Wind offshore wind farm in Rhode Island.
Work had been halted by the Donald Trump administration, which opposes wind energy, especially offshore.
Also noteworthy in today's session were Galp, which rose 2.61% to €16.34, EDP, which rose 2.56% to €4.00, and Altri, which rose 1% to €5.03.
With gains of less than 1% are Sonae SGPS (€1.33), Ibersol (€10.05), Corticeira Amorim (€7.24), REN (€2.93) and Navigator (€3.25).
In the opposite direction, Mota-Engil led the declines, falling 1.44% to €5.14.
Other major declines included Jerónimo Martins, which fell 1.25% to €20.58, and Teixeira Duarte, which fell 1.04% to €0.57.
CTT (€7.29), NOS (€3.79) and BCP (€0.74) fell by less than 1%.
Elsewhere in Europe, the main indexes in London rose 0.29%, Madrid 0.24% and Frankfurt 0.23%, while Paris fell 0.57%.
