Serie A said Tuesday that a 'Refcam', a camera that allows TV viewers to see the action from perspective view of the referee, will be used for the first time in the Italian top flight in Saturday's big match between Juventus and Inter in Turin.
    The high-resolution micro-camera, weighing only 6 grams, will be mounted at the base of the referee's microphone headband.
    "The introduction of Refcam in our league represents not only a further step in the path of innovation that we are pursuing with consistency and determination, but above all, it finally provides fans with the referee's real perspective of different game actions," said Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo.
    "Our target is to offer the spectators an increasingly engaging and immersive experience, enhancing the spectacle of football with new perspectives and exclusive images.
    "Lega Calcio Serie A has always been at the forefront of adopting new technologies, aware of the central role they play in the evolution of television viewing, in promoting our product globally and in the transparency of the decisions taken by match officials".
