Lisbon, Aug. 28, 2025 (Lusa) - The Portuguese stock market was 0.21% higher on Thursday morning at 7,819.78 points, boosted by the gains of construction company Mota-Engil, which was up almost 3% after falling more than 1.7% on Wednesday after presenting its results.
About an hour after opening, of the 15 stocks that make up the main index on the Portuguese stock exchange, the PSI, 11 were in positive territory and four were falling - Ibersol (-0.20% to €9.74), REN (-0.17% to €2.97), BCP (-0.16% to €0.74) and EDP (-0.16% to €3.86).
Mota-Engil led the gains, rising 2.98% to €4.90, after closing Wednesday down 1.73%.
The construction company's profits rose 20% in the first half of the year to €59 million, year-on-year, and turnover totalled €2.745 billion, 0.5% more than a year earlier.
Jornal de Negócios reports today that the construction company is interested in ports.
Galp Energia was gaining 0.85% to €16.56, followed by Altri (+0.80% to €5.07), Navigator (+0.72% to €3.35) and Semapa (+0.56% to €17.96).
Also in positive territory were Corticeira Amorim (+0.39% to €7.64), NOS (+0.38% to €3.93) and Sonae (+0.31% to €1.30).
The remaining shares registered lower gains.
The Lisbon stock market closed the day before with slight losses, with the PSI falling 0.36% to 7,816.16 points.
At around the same time, the main Portuguese stock markets were in positive territory, with the exception of London, which fell 0.06%.
