Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stocks open flat while other bourses trade in red

Lisbon, Aug. 20, 2025 (Lusa) - The Portuguese stock market continues to rise, about half an hour after opening, up 0.06% to 7,966.51 points, in contrast to the main European markets.

At around 8.28am, of the 15 companies listed on the main index of Lisbon's PSI, eight were in positive territory, two (BCP and Ibersol, with €9.82 and €0.79 respectively) were unchanged and five were down.

On the gains side, CTT was up 0.90% to €7.88, followed by REN (0.84% to €3), Sonae (0.75% to €1.34) and telecoms operator NOS (0.64% to €3.95).

Construction company Mota-Engil was up 0.62% to €5.66, followed by Altri (0.39% to €5.13) and Jerónimo Martins, which appreciated around half an hour after the market opened by 0.09% to €21.22.

Navigator was also in positive territory, rising 0.06% to €3.31.

The energy sector was in the opposite direction, with EDP Renováveis losing 0.58% to €10.36, EDP slipping 0.21% to €3.83 and Galp Energia falling 0.37% to €16.22.

Still in the red were Corticeira Amorim, down 0.13% to €7.57, and Semapa, down 0.33% to €17.90.

The stock market began today's session gaining a slight 0.04% to 7,966.12 points.

Europe remained in the red, with losses ranging from 0.65% in Frankfurt (DAX) to 0.11% in London (FTSE 100).

On Tuesday, the Lisbon stock market closed higher, with the PSI index rising 1.05% to 7,962.93 points, following the positive trend experienced by its main European counterparts.
