Lisbon, Aug. 19, 2025 (Lusa) - The Portuguese stock market rose 0.43% to 7,914.05 points, with BCP leading the gains, following the general trend of European markets, while Frankfurt and Madrid traded differently.
At around 9:16 a.m., of the 15 companies listed on the Portuguese stock exchange’s main index, the PSI, 11 were recording gains, three (REN, Ibersol and CTT) were unchanged and construction company Mota-Engil was off by 0.26% to €5.68.
BCP led the gains, rising 1.83% to €0.79, followed by Altri, which advanced 0.59% to €5.08, and Navigator, which gained 0.43% to €3.29.
In energy, EDP Renováveis recorded gains of 0.39% to €10.38 and EDP 0.34% to €3.80.
Telecommunications operator NOS also gained 0.39% to €3.86.
Just over an hour and a quarter after the market opened, Corticeira Amorim gained 0.27% to €7.55 and Sonae, owner of the Continente hypermarket chain, advanced 0.15% to €1.30.
Shares in Jerónimo Martins, which owns the Pingo Doce, Biedronka and Ara supermarket chains, rose 0.10% to €20.98.
Semapa rose 0.11% to €17.88.
The Portuguese stock market started today’s session up 0.10%, after closing Monday up 1.28% at 7,880.25 points.
The main European markets continued to rise, and Frankfurt (DAX) and Madrid (IBEX35) each recorded modest movements of 0.05% and 0.03%, respectively.
Paris (CAC 40) gained 0.49%, while London (FTSE 100) advanced 0.08%.
