Lisbon, June 12, 2025 (Lusa) - Pollen concentration in the atmosphere will remain high until the 19th of June across almost the entire continent, except in Porto and Faro, where it will be moderate, according to the Portuguese Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (SPAIC).
The pollen bulletin published weekly by SPAIC forecasts high pollen concentrations in the air in the regions of Castelo Branco, Coimbra, Évora, Lisbon and Vila Real between 13 and 19 June.
The pollen grains in the atmosphere come mainly from olive, cork oak and oak trees and from grasses, sorrel, plantain, goosefoot, nettles and urticaceae (including pellitory), according to the SPAIC.
For Porto, the Entre Douro e Minho region, and Faro, in the Algarve region, the forecast for atmospheric pollen concentration is moderate.
We expect low pollen concentration in the atmosphere during this period only in Funchal, in the autonomous region of Madeira, and Ponta Delgada, in the autonomous region of the Azores.
