Lusa - Business News - Portugal: 'We have a strong talent network' - Thinking Heads partner

Lisbon, May 14, 2025 (Lusa) - Iván Abanades, partner at consulting firm Thinking Heads Global, said in an interview with Lusa that the platform has "a strong talent network" and predicts that Asian talent will become prominent in the coming years.

Thinking Heads,  an influence management consultancy for organisations and leaders, has entered Portugal in partnership with Portuguese strategic communications firm AMP Associates and aims to "help export national talent" worldwide.

Created around 20 years ago, the talent platform has an extensive list of leading figures in various fields, to which Portuguese names have now been added.

"We have a strong network of talent," said the manager, adding that American talent is currently prominent worldwide.

"Big brands, big companies and big names are mainly from the United States, but we are seeing a growing trend of big names, big speakers and big brands also emerging from Asia, which has not been a trend lately," he points out.

Thinking Heads is starting to work and cooperate "increasingly with thought leaders in Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore and China," he said.

"I expect that in a few years, maybe five to ten years, many Asian talents, who are completely unknown to us now, will be as well known as American talents" and “this is a trend that is interesting to share,” he points out.

Iván Abanades says it is difficult to say about the next step after entering Portugal.

This is because "we started our operations in Spain 20 years ago" and, in 2014, "we opened an office in Miami, Florida, and that office was mainly aimed at Latin America because, when we started working with Spanish-speaking profiles, we detected high demand in Latin America," he says.

Thinking Heads monitors the US and Canadian markets through its Miami office.

Later, through a partnership such as the one they have now established with the Portuguese company AMP Associates, they opened a small operation in Seoul, South Korea, which "serves the Asian market".

From this point of view, "we are covering most of the world," he points out.

Iván Abanades stresses that "it is very important" to understand that local talent differs from global talent.

Therefore, "if the question is what our next step is, I don't know how to answer, because we are competing globally," he says.

We participate in events in more than 50 countries, including several African countries, such as Angola, Mozambique, Nigeria and Morocco, and we are making international leaders available to these countries, but from outside," said Iván Abanades.

For this reason, "we have no plans at present to start new operations in a specific country, but rather to expand our network globally, bringing talent from any corner of the world to any corner of the world," he concluded.
