Lusa - Business News - Angola: Annual inflation falls for fifth month in a row to 22.32% in April

Luanda, May 13, 2025 (Lusa) - The National Consumer Price Index (IPCN) in Angola stood at 22.32% year-on-year in April, the lowest level since January 2024, also marking the fifth consecutive monthly decline.

Comparing the current variation with that recorded in the same month last year, there was a decrease of 5.89 percentage points, according to data released by the Angolan National Statistics Institute on Tuesday.

Statistical data also show a decline in inflation of 1.34% between March and April, the fifth consecutive monthly decline.

During April 2025, the provinces that recorded the lowest price variation were Luanda with 1.10%, Malange with 1.23%, Huambo and Namibe with 1.31% each, while Cabinda with 1.91%, Cuanza Norte with 1.90% and Huila with 1.81% were at the opposite end of the scale.

The "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" class recorded the highest monthly price increase, with a variation of 1.94%.

Also noteworthy were price increases in the categories "Clothing and footwear" with 1.80%, "Hotels, cafes and restaurants" with 1.65% and "Health" with 1.56%. Of the twelve consumption categories that make up the IPCN, nine showed rates above unity.
