Lisbon, May 12, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market continued to rise on Monday, with the PSI above 7,000 points, Navigator up 3.03% to €3.40 and REN down 2.03% to €2.66.
At around 10:20 a.m. in Lisbon, the PSI, which closed above 7,000 in three sessions last week, maintained its opening trend and rose 0.30% to 7,008.79 points, with nine stocks rising and six falling.
Last week, the PSI closed at its highest level since 20 June 2014, at 7,024.31 points, on 8 May.
Navigator shares were followed by BCP and Galp, which rose 2.78% to €0.61 and 2.23% to €14.23.
More moderately, shares in Mota-Engil, Semapa and Corticeira Amorim rose 1.86% to €4.06, 1.55% to €17.51 and 1.27% to €7.97.
Shares in Altri, EDP Renováveis and Ibersol also rose, namely 0.55% to €6.23, 0.36% to €8.26 and 0.22% to €9.18.
In contrast, after REN shares, those that fell the most were Jerónimo Martins and NOS, down 1.34% to €22.02 and 0.68% to €3.64, respectively.
The other three stocks that fell were Sonae, EDP and CTT, which lost 0.53% to €1.13, 0.43% to €3.25 and 0.29% to €6.78.
The main European stock markets opened higher today, buoyed by the trade agreement between Washington and Beijing and awaiting further details.
At the opening of the session, the euro was down 0.45% and falling to $1.1118 on the Frankfurt currency market, against $1.1250 on Friday and $1.1509 on 21 April, a new high since 12 November 2021.
In Asia, the main Chinese stock markets closed with significant gains.
Wall Street ended Friday slightly lower.
This week, the focus will be on the macroeconomic and corporate agenda, trade negotiations, and geopolitical developments.
Markets will also be watching today's Eurogroup meeting and reports from OPEC and the International Energy Agency, while the presentation of first-quarter corporate results continues.
Gold per troy ounce, a safe-haven asset, was down 1.86% to $3,230.60, compared to $3,324.98 on Friday and the current all-time high of $3,414.65, recorded on 21 April.
The price of Brent crude oil for July delivery, the benchmark in Europe, rose 1.47% to $65.59 per barrel, compared to $63.91 on Friday.
