It is my pleasure to be here in Taranto, on the occasion of the AMAN / ANSA Seminar, in coordination with the Organizing Committee of the 2026 Taranto Mediterranean Games.
I am glad to see that 17 out of 20 member-agencies of AMAN are present. The only two missing, for obvious reasons, are the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) and the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA). We welcome also journalists from news agencies which are not AMAN members.
On behalf of AMAN, I would like to express sincere thanks to ANSA and especially to ANSA CEO and current AMAN President Mr. Stefano De Alessandri for hosting this seminar, the Organizing Committee of the XX 2026 Taranto Mediterranean Games and all sponsors.
AMAN shares the vision of bringing together media professionals to discuss common problems, anxieties and needs. Cooperation, solidarity and togetherness are the key words in response to today’s big challenges.
We live in a very fragile world, and we need each other. We need to exchange experiences and expertise. We need to support each other and show solidarity. This is our objective in AMAN. Bringing together national news agencies from both shores of the Mediterranean Sea, from three continents: Africa, Asia and Europe. Bringing together advanced and less advanced news agencies. Bringing together rich and poor news agencies. That was the scope why AMAN was founded in 1991 in Tunis. ANSA is among the 13 founding members of AMAN.
I convey the greetings and wishes of all member agencies, congratulating, at the same time, our hosts for the warm hospitality extended to all of us and the excellent organization of this seminar and the whole programme.
I am sure that the journalists who are here today with us will write many stories and take interviews to project and promote this important athletic event in the Mediterranean.
AMAN wishes every success in the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto.
