Colombia's Mayra Ramirez receives the EFE Trophy as best Ibero-American player

Mayra Ramírez, Chelsea FC's Colombian striker, received the EFE Trophy for the best Ibero-American player 2024 from the president of the Spanish News Agency EFE, Miguel Ángel Oliver, at a ceremony held at Chelsea's Sports City facilities in Cobham, on the outskirts of London. Mayra, one of the leading players in the women's Super League in England, thanked EFE for the award, a trophy that helps her to improve her performance on a daily basis, ‘to achieve goals and dreams, with the help of all my teammates,’ she said.
The Colombian international was moved when she saw a surprise video of her family congratulating her and said that she dedicated the award to her loved ones, who have always supported her in her career as a footballer.
Mayra received the V edition of the EFE award in the women's category, 48 hours before one of the most anticipated derbies of the Women's Superleague against Arsenal this Sunday at Stanford Bridge, where an attendance of 34,000 spectators is expected, according to Chelsea sources.
Miguel Ángel Oliver, president of EFE, praised the work and determination of Mayra Ramírez at the English club and in the Colombian national team and recalled that she succeeds Estefanía Banini, an Argentinian player to whom the Colombian player professes admiration. ‘The Mexican Kenti Robles, your compatriot Leicy Santos, FC Barcelona as an entity, Estefanía Banini have preceded you in this Trophy that rewards your quality and of which, for sure, they will be proud today in your beloved Sibaté, the Colombian town where you started before flying to Europe,’ added Oliver.
