Lusa - Business News - Timor-Leste: Non-oil exports up 22% in 2024 to $21M; coffee leads - central bank

Dili, March 21, 2025 (Lusa) - Timor-Leste's non-oil exports increased by 21.7% in 2024, with coffee remaining the main item exported, the Central Bank of Timor-Leste (BCTL) said on Friday.

"Non-oil exports increased by 21.7% in 2024, reaching 21 million dollars [€19.3 million], with coffee as the main product," reads the BCTL's report on the country's economic performance.

According to the document, which was presented at the Ministry of Finance in Dili, "Indonesia and the United States remained the main export destinations, although sales to Indonesia fell by 27.8%.

"Timor-Leste's imports increased by 12.5% in 2024, totalling 923.2 million dollars [€852.3 million] with Indonesia and China as the main suppliers. The most imported products included fuels, vehicles and cereals," says the BCTL report.

It also notes that there was a "reduction in imports of services related to the manufacturing industry and an increase in exports of services, especially in the travel and tourism sector, which grew by 18.2%."
