Brussels, Feb. 6, 2025 (Lusa) - The European Commission will fund 39 innovative projects with €422 million, one of which is Portuguese with €2.94 million, for infrastructure for alternative fuels in the road, air and maritime transport sector, it was announced on Thursday.
According to information from the EU executive, Mota Engil Renewing will receive €2.94 million for the installation of 66 charging stations accessible to the public, equipped with a total of 94 charging points: four 350kW charging points and 90 150kW charging points, mainly for passenger cars.
The 39 projects selected will create alternative fuel infrastructure along the trans-European transport network (TEN-T), contributing to decarbonisation and a cleaner sector with €422 million from the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility.
With this selection, the mechanism will support the installation of around 2,500 electric charging points for light vehicles and 2,400 for heavy vehicles on the TEN-T, 35 hydrogen refuelling stations for cars, lorries and buses, the electrification of ground handling services at eight airports, the greening of nine ports and two ammonia and methanol refuelling plants.
The selected projects focus on the installation of public electric recharging stations, including high-power megawatt chargers for heavy and light vehicles, the development of hydrogen refuelling stations and shore power installations in ports, as well as the electrification of airports and the provision of infrastructure for alternative fuels, such as ammonia and methanol, for maritime transport.
