Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Critical Software closes offices in Tomar, Vila Real - CEO

Lisbon, July 24, 2024 (Lusa) - Critical Software's chief executive officer (CEO) confirmed to Lusa on Wednesday that the offices in Tomar and Vila Real will be closed. The 60 workers will provide services elsewhere in the company and receive a monthly transport allowance.

The news of the office closures was reported today by the digital newspaper Eco.

In a written response to Lusa, the technology company's CEO, João Carreira, ‘confirmed the closure of the offices in Tomar and Vila Real’.

The chairman explained the decision as being ‘based on the stagnation of growth in these offices, in contrast, for example, with the success of the Viseu office, which has grown significantly from 20 to around 100 employees since it opened’.

Together, the two offices ‘have around 60 employees who, with this change, will be able to work in the company's various offices - Porto, Coimbra, Viseu and Lisbon - on the two defined days of face-to-face work in the current hybrid working model,’ he said.

The workers ‘will receive a monthly allowance for transport, since they will have to make these journeys,’ added the manager.

‘This decision aims to optimise the efficiency and dynamism of the company, concentrating resources in locations with greater growth potential, but we still don't have a concrete date for this closure,’ argued the CEO.

On the contrary, ‘in Viseu, where the office has grown exponentially, we are already looking for a space that can be the base for around 200 employees,’ he added.
