Lusa - Business News - Mozambique: Largest trade fair expects over 3,000 exhibitors

Maputo, July 10, 2024 (Lusa) - The Maputo International Trade Fair (FACIM), Mozambique's largest trade fair, kicks off on 26 August with 3,050 national and foreign exhibitors expected, the event's organisers announced on Wednesday.

The fair, under the slogan "Industrialisation: Innovation and Diversification of the National Economy", will take place from 26 August to 1 September in Maputo province. The registration process is still underway and ends on 31 July, a source from the event told Lusa today.

"The 59th edition of FACIM 2024 is expected to attract more than 3,050 national and foreign exhibitors, around 26 countries, 750 foreign companies and 65,000 visitors," said a statement from Mozambique's Agency for the Promotion of Investment and Exports (Apiex).

For this edition, Apiex has introduced a press office to create better interaction between exhibitors and the media, and is also an opportunity to promote products and services.

"[The press office] will be equipped with all the necessary material for the press to carry out their work in real time (...). This initiative will bring significant benefits in strengthening the relationship between exhibitors and the national and international press," Apiex adds in the document.

Mozambique's largest trade fair aims to showcase Mozambique's economic potential and business and investment opportunities in the country's business sector and abroad, as well as other activities, including seminars, promotion sessions and contact exchanges.

"The current edition of FACIM 2024 highlights some innovations such as the industrialisation pavilion and the development corridors pavilion," the statement concluded.

The number of exhibitors planned for this year is higher than in 2023, when 2,500 Mozambican and foreign companies took part, including those from Portugal, Italy, Zambia, India, Brazil, Angola, Germany and France.

Last year Portugal had at least 11 exhibitors from sectors such as construction, new technologies, metallurgy, logistics and pharmaceuticals.
