Lisbon, Sept. 24, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market was trading slightly higher on Thursday morning, with Galp leading the gains, rising 0.94% to €22.66.
At around 9.30 am in Lisbon, the benchmark PSI index was up 0.09% to 9,641.42 points, with eight companies rising, six falling and two remaining unchanged (REN at €3.52 and Semapa at €20.75).
Galp's shares were followed by those of Teixeira Duarte, Sonae and Altri, which rose by 0.52% to €0.49, 0.48% to €2.10 and 0.32% to €4.76 respectively.
Shares in Ibersol and Mota-Engil rose by 0.30% to €10.02 and 0.29% to €5.28, as did those of NOS (up 0.19% to €5.41) and Corticeira Amorim (up 0.14% to €7.07).
Conversely, EDP Renewables, Navigator and BCP fell by 0.46% to €12.93, 0.31% to €3.26 and 0.25% to €1.18 respectively.
CTT fell by 0.08% to €6.30, whilst EDP and Jerónimo Martins both fell by 0.06% to €4.76 and €17.96 respectively.
Across Europe, the main stock markets opened mixed today, with oil prices rising after Iran's President, Masoud Pezeshkian, claimed that the real terrorist is US President Donald Trump.
The euro was stronger against the dollar, gaining 0.11% and trading at $1.1394 on the Frankfurt foreign exchange market.
The market is closely monitoring the statements being made at the UN General Assembly, where Trump labelled the leaders of the Islamic Republic as terrorists, describing them as a threat to the very existence of humanity. In response, the Iranian President stated that the «real terrorist» is Trump.
Pezeshkian portrayed Iran as a victim of aggression by the United States and Israel and expressed his country's determination to stand up to them.
Oil prices are rising, with the price of a standard barrel of Brent crude – the benchmark in Europe – up 0.36% to $103.45.
In addition to developments in oil prices and sovereign bond yields, investors' attention will focus on the meeting between the US and Chinese presidents, Trump and Xi Jinping, respectively, to be held in Washington.
US index futures are down by 0.15% for the Dow Jones and 0.46% for the tech-heavy Nasdaq, after closing on Wednesday down 0.68% and 1.13% respectively.
On the agenda for today, the Ifo Institute will release the September readings for Germany's business climate indices.
