Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes with benchmark index off 0.25% in line with Europe

Lisbon, Sept. 23, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed down 0.25% on Wednesday at 9,632.44 points, following the European trend, weighed down by the energy and retail sectors.

Of the 16 listed companies that make up the benchmark PSI index, six rose, eight fell, and Altri and Teixeira Duarte remained unchanged at €4.78 and €0.48 respectively.

EDP was the stock that fell the most, dropping 1.87% to €4.76, followed by Jerónimo Martins, down 1.80% to €17.97, EDP Renewables, which lost 1.74% to €12.99, and Sonae, which fell by 1.42%, to €2.09.

Also in negative territory were NOS (down 1.37% to €5.40), REN (down 1.12% to €3.52), Semapa (down 0.72% to €20.75) and Ibersol (down 0.50% to €9.99).

On the other hand, leading the gains was Galp, which rose by 2.79% to €22.45, followed by Mota-Engil, which gained 2.24% to €5.26.

Also in positive territory were BCP (up 1.63% to €1.19), Corticeira Amorim (up 0.71% to €7.06), Navigator (up 0.31% to €3.27) and CTT (up 0.16% to €6.31).

The main European stock markets closed lower today, with London down 0.03%, Paris 0.39%, Frankfurt 0.66%, Madrid 0.62% and Milan 0.21%.
