Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market trading higher on Tuesday morning with EDP up 2.5%

Lisbon, Aug. 18, 2026 (Lusa) - The Portuguese stock market remains in positive territory on Tuesday morning, with the main index, the PSI, gaining 0.47% to 9,263.24 points, whilst EDP rose by more than 2.5%.

Around an hour and a half after the market opened, the 16 listed companies in the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Stock Index) were evenly split, with eight rising and eight falling.

The gains were led by EDP, which rose 2.52% to €4.63, followed by Galp Energia (+1.43% to €21.29) and NOS (+1.03% to €4.89) as the only three shares with movements of more than 1%.

Also in the black were EDP Renewables, which gained 0.52% to €13.66, Ibersol and Jerónimo Martins, both rising 0.41% to €9.70 and €17.01 respectively, Corticeira Amorim, which advanced 0.30% to €6.73, and Mota-Engil, which rose by 0.09% to €4.50.

Conversely, REN was the stock that fell the most, recording a 0.71% drop in value to €3.48.

Semapa fell by 0.5% to €20.10, CTT dropped by 0.48% to €6.28, Altri fell by 0.42% to €4.70 and Teixeira Duarte fell by 0.31% to €0.49.

Smaller losses were seen in Navigator (-0.25% to €3.20), Sonae (-0.10% to €1.99) and BCP (-0.09% to €1.10).

The main European stock markets opened mixed today, with investors remaining focused on the situation in the Middle East.

Investors are keeping a close eye on the Middle East, after the British agency Maritime Trade Operations reported that a projectile had struck another vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
