Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes with benchmark index flat in line with Europe

Lisbon, July 20, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed slightly higher on Monday, with the PSI rising 0.09% to 9,070.71 points, buoyed by gains from Semapa and companies listed in the energy sector.

Of the 16 listed companies that make up the PSI national benchmark index, seven closed in positive territory and the remaining nine in the red.

Leading the PSI's gains was Semapa, which rose by 1.98% to €20.65, followed by three companies linked to the energy sector.

Galp Energia rose by 1.79% to €19.30, whilst within the EDP group, the subsidiary EDP Renewables rose by 0.72% to €13.92 and the parent company gained 0.60% to €4.55.

Also among the index ‘heavyweights', BCP rose by 0.19% to €1.03 per share.

Bucking the trend and leading the fall were Sonae SGPS, which fell by 1.20% to €2.06, followed by Jerónimo Martins, which dropped by 1.01% to €16.67.

Also worth noting is Nos, which fell by 0.73% to €4.87, as well as two listed companies linked to the pulp and paper sector: Navigator fell by 0.69% to €3.16, whilst Altri lost 0.53% to €4.67.

On the other major European markets, Germany's DAX rose by 0.06% and France's CAC-40 advanced by 0.02%, whilst the UK's FTSE 100 fell by 0.71% and Spain's IBEX-35 declined by 0.05%.
