Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Diesel expected to rise 4.5 cents next week - retailer association

Lisbon, June 5, 2026 (Lusa) - Petrol prices are expected to remain stable next week, whilst diesel prices are set to rise by 4.5 cents, according to forecasts from the National Association of Fuel Retailers (Anarec) provided to Lusa.

Based on current figures from the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (DGEG), and taking into account forecasts of changes based on Thursday’s market close, the average price of regular 95 octane petrol is expected to stand at €1.928 per litre from Monday, whilst regular diesel could reach €1.905 per litre.

The final average will only be confirmed at the end of the day and may still change depending on developments in international oil prices, whilst the final cost at the pump may vary by petrol station, brand, and location.

The rise in fuel prices in recent months comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, with oil prices under pressure from the Strait of Hormuz closure and volatility in international markets.

The price of Brent crude, the European benchmark, for August delivery fell by 0.39% to $94.68.
