Lusa - Business News - Angola: Government approves regulations on exporting unprocessed coffee beans

Luanda, May 29, 2026 (Lusa) – Angola's government approved export regulations for unprocessed coffee beans on Friday, establishing standards and procedures to enhance its international value and increase the income of farming families.

The decree, approved during a cabinet meeting chaired by President João Lourenço, aims to contribute to the "promotion, quality improvement, and value of Angolan coffee on the international market," he said.

Boosting the economic and social development of coffee bean-producing regions is another key purpose of the regulation, the press release issued after the meeting said.

Angola's Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Isaac dos Anjos, insisted to journalists that the export of unprocessed coffee beans must boost family incomes.

"This decree aims to regulate how we must prepare coffee for export. In our reality, coffee is becoming a crop that offers prospects for increasing family income, and we want families to achieve greater benefits from coffee cultivation," he said.

"This set of diplomas aims exactly to restore coffee's potential as a cash crop, which is why these standards are being made available so we can have an alternative income source," he stated.

Isaac dos Anjos also stated that his ministry is working to increase the supply of plants by establishing nurseries supported by the Coffee Development Fund and the Agrarian Development Fund of Angola.

The cabinet meeting also assessed a bill to submit to parliament authorising the central bank (BNA) to issue and circulate a legal tender commemorative coin to honour the institution's 50th anniversary.
