ANSA - Stellantis says it won't cut capacity in Italy

Reduction of 800,000 units for Europe doesn't concern Italian factories says Cappellano

An 800,000-unit reduction in Stellantis's capacity in Europe envisioned in the new strategic plan it presented last week does not regard its Italian factories, the auto group's European chief Emanuele Cappellano told reporters in Turin on Friday.
"There is nothing regarding production capacity in Italy," Cappellano said.
"In the first few months of 2026, production was higher than the same period in 2025.

We hope to continue this trend".
He said the Italian-French-American auto group was confirming and strengthening its €2 billion investment plan for Italy, with new models such as the new Alfa Romeo to be produced in Melfi and the E-car project for its plant at Pomigliano, near Naples.
"Italy is one of the key countries in Europe, with very strong historical roots," he said.
"All our plants will have new models, new platforms, and new developments.
"It's a very robust plan; there will be new announcements".
Stellantis, whose brands include Jeep, Peugeot, Fiat, Lancia, Maserati, Alfa Romeo and Chrysler, is seeking to turn itself around with better focus on its customers' demands after making a net loss of 22.3 billion euros in 2025 following a huge write-down on its balance sheet after it overestimated the pace of the transition towards electric vehicles.
