Praia, May 28, 2026 (Lusa) - The Fundacao Donana (a local charity) announced that the Cabo Verde Food Bank will run its 20th food collection campaign on Saturday and Sunday in about 50 mini-markets and shops across Praia, Mindelo and Espargos.
The charity and Food Bank's president, Ana Maria Hopffer Almada, said the campaign aims to "supply the Food Bank's warehouses" in the cities where the initiative is being held.
The collected items will create about 1,000 basic food baskets that the charity periodically distributes to beneficiary families, helping about 6,000 people.
The charity and the Cabo Verde Food Bank work with 60 partner associations to distribute the food throughout the year.
She concluded that the Cabo Verde Food Bank has collected and distributed about 1,800 tonnes of food since its creation in 2012, "benefiting thousands of people."
