Lisbon, March 17, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed up on Tuesday, with the PSI (Portuguese Stock Index) rising 0.50% to 9,175.24 points, boosted by gains in the energy sector, as Galp Energia and EDP Renováveis rose more than 2%.
Of the 16 listed companies that make up the national benchmark index, eight closed in the 'green', six in negative territory and two unchanged (Teixeira Duarte closed at 44 cents per share and Semapa at €21.55).
Supporting the PSI's performance were companies in the energy sector.
Galp Energia rose 2.32% to €21.18, EDP Renováveis climbed 2.02% to €13.64 and EDP gained 1.58% to €4.45.
With gains of over 1%, the construction company Mota-Engil rose 1.05% to €4.41.
At the opposite end, and preventing more significant gains for the national benchmark index, were Jerónimo Martins, which fell 2.58% to €21.88, and Altri, which dropped 2.04% to €4.57.
Also closing with losses of more than 1% were CTT, whose shares fell 1.33% to €6.70.
The Lisbon stock market followed the sentiment experienced in the other main European bourses, on a day in which the Spanish IBEX-35 added 0.92%, the British FTSE 100 gained 0.83%, the German DAX rose 0.71% and the French CAC-40 increased 0.49%. JMF/LYT // ADB.
