Lisbon, Feb. 24, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market was trading higher on Tuesday morning, with the PSI reaching a new high since June 2008, Navigator shares rising 1.42% and BCP shares falling 1.54%.
At around 9:25 a.m. in Lisbon, the PSI maintained its opening trend and rose 0.67% to 9,307.62 points, a new high since June 2008, with 12 companies rising and four falling.
Navigator shares led the gains, rising 1.42% to 3.44 euros, while BCP shares fell the most, down 1.54% to 0.91 euros.
Navigator shares were followed by EDP Renováveis and Altri, both up 1.36% to €13.38 and €4.86.
Following the same trend, EDP, Semapa and Jerónimo Martins shares rose 1.32% to €4.39, 1.23% to €24.70 and 1.09% to €22.34.
REN, Sonae and Galp shares rose 1.05% to €3.87, 0.60% to €2.00 and 0.46% to €18.66.
The other three shares that gained value were Ibersol (0.44% to €11.35), NOS (0.40% to €5.03) and Corticeira Amorim (0.14% to €6.91).
On the other hand, in addition to BCP shares, those of CTT, Teixeira Duarte and Mota-Engil fell 0.41% to €7.21, 0.38% to €0.52 and 0.19% to €5.24.
The main European stock markets were down today after the US entered into force a new temporary 10% global tariff, rather than the 15% announced by Donald Trump over the weekend.
After the tariffs approved by Trump in 2025 were declared illegal by the Supreme Court, a temporary global tariff of 10% on imports from all countries, except those covered by the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, came into force today, while the EU is now analysing how to proceed with the trade agreement reached last summer with the US.
Wall Street futures are up slightly, with the Nasdaq up 0.27% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.14%, after both indices fell 1.13% and 1.66%, respectively, on Monday.
Gold and silver are down, falling 0.64% and 1.06% respectively.
In the commodities market, Brent crude oil, the benchmark in Europe, for April delivery rose 0.38% to $71.40.
The euro rose to $1.1787 on the Frankfurt foreign exchange market, compared to $1.1785 on Monday and $1.1980 on 27 January, a new high since June 2021. MC/ADB // ADB. Lusa
