Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes with benchmark flat, builders again leading falls

Lisbon, Jan. 21, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed on Wednesday with a slight drop of 0.04% to 8,460.36 points, with civil engineering and construction companies Mota-Engil and Teixeira Duarte once again leading the declines on a day of uncertainty in Europe.

The benchmark PSI (Portuguese Share Index) includes 16 companies, nine of which fell, six of which rose and NOS remained unchanged at €4.16.

Mota-Engil was once again the biggest loser, falling 4.94% to €4.50, followed by Teixeira Duarte, which fell 4.51% to €0.55.

Also below the waterline were CTT (-1.45% to €6.81), Sonae (-0.57% to €1.73), BCP (-0.56% to €0.88), Corticeira Amorim (-0.45% to €6.70), REN (-0.15% to €3.27), Navigator (-0.13% to €3.17) and Galp (-0.06% to €16.06).

In the opposite direction, the stock that rose the most was EDP Renováveis, which advanced 1.37% to €12.59, followed by Altri, with a 1.26% enhancement to €4.41.

Ibersol (+0.99% to €10.2), Semapa (+0.47% to €21.5), EDP (+0.46% to €4.12) and Jerónimo Martins (+0.29% to €20.40) also closed higher today.

The main European markets closed today without a clear direction, with the main indexes in London up 0.11%, Paris 0.08% and Madrid 0.06%. Frankfurt fell 0.58% and Milan fell 0.50%.
