Lusa - Business News - Cabo Verde: CGD sells stake in BCA for €82M

Lisbon, Jan. 15, 2026 (Lusa) - The CGD Group on Thursday completed the sale of its 59.81% stake in Banco Comercial do Atlântico, in Cabo Verde, to Coris Holding for €82 million, the Portuguese bank confirmed in a statement to the market.

In the information sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM), Caixa Geral de Depósitos states that the banking group "today formalised, in Praia, Cabo Verde, the sale of shares representing 59.81% of the share capital of Banco Comercial do Atlântico (BCA), an institution listed on the Cabo Verde Stock Exchange, to Coris Holding S.A.".

The transaction took place "following the process announced on 14 March 2024 and after the decision of non-opposition by the Bank of Cabo Verde, announced on 24 November 2025", states the financial institution led by Paulo Macedo.

In a press release, CGD states that the sale took place "for a total price of €82 million, generating a capital gain for Caixa of €19.3 million and a positive impact of 40 basis points on its CET1 ratio, resulting from the combination of the capital gain and the reduction in risk-weighted assets," the institution also states.

The ten-month period since the announcement of the deal "allowed the Cape Verdean authorities to clarify all aspects they deemed relevant, and also allowed the buyer to deepen its knowledge of BCA," CGD said in a press release.
