Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market trading with benchmark up 0.43% on Tuesday morning

Lisbon, Dec. 9, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market continued to rise on Tuesday morning, maintaining its opening trend, driven by gains from EDP Renováveis, CTT and Jerónimo Martins.

At around 9:00 a.m. in Lisbon, the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Share Index) was up 0.43% to 8,235.03% points, with 11 stocks gaining and two falling.

Teixeira Duarte, Ibersol and Mota-Engil remained at their opening prices, trading at €0.68, €10.1 and €4.72 per share, respectively.

The biggest gains were made by EDP Renováveis (+1.86% to €12.07), CTT (+1.37% to €7.42) and Jerónimo Martins (+1.15% to €20.20).

Also in the green were Navigator, BCP, EDP and NOS, which grew by 0.79% to €3.07, 0.68% to €0.85, 0.64% to €3.86 and 0.53% to €3.77, respectively.

With more modest growth, Sonae was gaining 0.38% to €1.57, Altri advancing 0.34% to €4.49, and both Corticeira Amorim and REN rising 0.31% to €6.47 and €3.29.

In the opposite direction, Galp Energia and Semapa were down 0.89% to €17.18 and 0.23% to €17.02.

Half an hour after the opening, the main European stock markets were up, with eyes on the US Federal Reserve (Fed) meeting, which begins today and is expected to result in a third consecutive interest rate cut.

As with previous decisions, this one will be based on macroeconomic data that has been released, particularly that relating to price behaviour and the labour market.

Among the main European stock markets, there were rises, with the exception of London, which was down 0.09%.

Milan (0.70%%), Frankfurt (0.34%%), Madrid (0.20%%) and Paris (0.14%%) were advancing compared to the opening.

As for commodities, the ounce of gold fell 0.10% to US$4,213.4 and the barrel of Brent - the benchmark for Europe - fell 0.11%.

Bitcoin fell 0.93% to US$90,495.7.

On Monday, Wall Street ended in negative territory. The selective Dow Jones fell 0.54% to 47,739.32 points, the broad S&P500 fell 0.35% to 6,846.51 points and the technological Nasdaq lost 0.14% to 23,545.91 points.
