Lisbon, Dec. 5, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market maintained its opening trend on Friday and traded slightly lower, with four of the 16 PSI stocks falling, led by EDP, which fell 0.49% to €3.86.
At around 9:05 a.m. in Lisbon, the PSI was down 0.06% to 8,233.36 points, against a new high since January 2010 of 8,484.01 points recorded on 5 November, with four stocks down, nine rising and three maintaining their prices (Corticeira Amorim at €6.56, Ibersol at €10.05 and NOS at €3.78).
EDP shares were followed by REN, Galp and EDP Renováveis, which also fell, namely 0.46% to €3.26, 0.40% to €17.63 and 0.25% to €11.79.
In contrast, Mota-Engil and Teixeira Duarte shares led the gains, rising 1.66% to €4.78 and 1.16% to €0.70.
Following the same trend, CTT, BCP and Altri shares rose 0.98% to €7.22, 0.65% to €0.86 and 0.44% to €4.56.
Sonae and Semapa shares rose 0.26% to €1.55 and 0.12% to €16.90.
The other two shares that rose in price were Jerónimo Martins (+0.10% to €20.14) and Navigator (+0.06% to €3.09).
The main European stock markets opened slightly higher today, pending the US personal consumption expenditure (PCE) price index, a key figure for the US Federal Reserve's (Fed) monetary policy.
The US Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index (PCE) is a key indicator for the Fed's monetary policy, which is expected to decide on a further 25 basis point interest rate cut on Wednesday.
In Germany, the lower house of parliament, or Bundestag, is expected to vote today on pension reform, which includes maintaining pension levels at 48% of the average salary until 2031 and creating a commission to study the possible introduction of a sustainability factor.
Wall Street futures are up slightly, with the Nasdaq up 0.44% and the Dow Jones up 0.02%.
Brent, the benchmark crude oil in Europe, for delivery in February 2026, is trading at $63.35, up from $63.26 in the previous session.
The euro rose to $1.1660 on the Frankfurt foreign exchange market, compared to $1.1656 on Thursday and the new four-year high of $1.1865 recorded on 16 September.
