Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stocks trading higher with EDP Renováveis climbing 2.61%

Lisbon, Dec. 3, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market maintained its opening trend on Wednesday and traded higher, with 13 of the 16 PSI stocks rising, led by EDP Renováveis, which rose 2.61% to €12.18.

At around 09:25 in Lisbon, the PSI was up 0.69% to 8,266.54 points, against a new high since January 2010 of 8,484.01 points recorded on 5 November, with 13 stocks rising, two falling and one remaining unchanged (Jerónimo Martins at €20.48).

EDP Renováveis shares were followed by Mota-Engil, Corticeira Amorim and Galp, which also rose, namely 1.11% to €4.73, 1.07% to €6.62 and 0.86% to €17.57.

Following the same trend, EDP, Navigator, and Teixeira Duarte shares rose 0.77% to €3.91, 0.73% to €3.04, and 0.68% to €0.70, respectively.

Ibersol, Semapa and Altri shares rose 0.40% to €9.98, 0.36% to €16.72 and 0.33% to €4.49.

The other three shares that rose in price were NOS (0.27% to €3.78), Sonae (0.13% to €1.55) and BCP (0.12% to €0.84).

In contrast, REN and CTT shares fell 0.15% to €3.29 and 0.14% to €7.24.

The main European stock markets opened slightly higher today, in a session where attention is on ADP employment data for US companies in November, key information for the US Federal Reserve (Fed).

Also on today's macroeconomic agenda is the publication of the final November readings of the services sector activity indices in the main eurozone economies, as well as in the UK and the US.

Wall Street closed higher on Tuesday after a day of gains in the technology sector and bitcoin, following a series of declines amid risk aversion related to their high valuations.

The cryptocurrency continues to rise today, advancing 1.51% to $92,982 and approaching $93,000.

New York Stock Exchange futures are positive, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.24% and the Nasdaq Composite up 0.25%.

Brent, the benchmark crude oil in Europe, for delivery in February 2026, is advancing to $62.74, compared to $62.45 in the previous session.

The euro rose to $1.1641 on the Frankfurt foreign exchange market, compared to $1.1607 on Tuesday and the new four-year high of $1.1865 recorded on 16 September.
