ANSA - Italy's GDP to grow 0.6% in 2026, 0.7% in 2027 - OECD

Deficit-to-GDP ratio to fall to 2.6% in 2027 says report

Italy's GDP will grow by 0.6% in 2026 and 0.7% in 2027, the OECD said on Thursday in its latest economic outlook report.
"Weak exports following higher global tariffs and subdued household consumption, despite rising real incomes, will drag on near-term growth," the report said.
"Rising public investment is projected to support growth through 2026, buoyed by accelerating disbursement of the National Recovery and Resilience Programme funds ahead of its deadline, before slowing in 2027.
"Improved confidence and stronger growth in export markets will support a modest pick-up in private consumption and investment, lifting growth".
The report said that the Italian government was continuing with "budgetary consolidation" adding that this was helping to reduce debt costs.
It said Italy's deficit-to-GDP ratio is projected to drop to 2.9% this year and come down to 2.6% in 2027, "thanks to a contraction in the growth of public investment spending and the wage bill in the public sector."
