In the period between January and July 2025, 4,195 building permits were issued compared to 4,879 in the same period last year, marking a 14% decrease, according to data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service on Monday.

According to CyStat, the number of building permits authorised in July 2025 amounted to 796, while the total value of these permits reached €454.9 million and the total area 359,100 square meters, corresponding to 1,512 residential units.

It is added that the total value of these permits increased by 4.8% and the total area by 7.8%, while the number of residential units having increased by 4.6%.

It is also noted that from July 1, 2024, the responsibility for issuing building permits was transferred from municipalities and district administrations to the newly established District Self-Government Organizations (EOA), and the licensing procedures are carried out through the new integrated information system "Hippodamus."
