Lusa - Business News - Angola: State transfers 15% of its stake in Standard Bank to sovereign fund

Luanda, Nov. 7, 2025 (Lusa) - The Angolan state has transferred 15% of its stake in Standard Bank Angola to the Angolan Sovereign Fund (Fsdea) to optimise the management of its portfolio, the state asset and stake management entity announced on Friday.

According to a statement from the Institute for the Management of State Assets and Holdings (IGAPE), the authorisation, based on the presidential order dated Thursday, allocates a portion of the stake to an entity specialising in the strategic management of long-term investments, which is Fsdea's core mission.

With a total stake of 49%, the state is left with 34% of the share capital of Standard Bank Angola, which remains "fully included in the Propriv [Privatisation Programme] and is still destined to be privatised".

"This decision reinforces the government's strategy of valorising national assets, entrusting holdings of a strategic nature to Fsdea, without abdicating the divestment agenda in sectors where the state does not need to maintain a majority position," the statement said.
