Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Borba fair showcases Alentejo wine producers

Borba, Portugal, Nov. 7, 2025 (Lusa) - This year's edition of the Vine and Wine Festival kicks off on Tuesday in Borba, with around 70 exhibitors, an emphasis on producers from the Alentejo, the town council said on Friday.

The event dedicated to wine and vines, which usually attracts thousands of visitors to the town in the Évora district, will run until the 16th at the events pavilion, with free entry, to promote Alentejo wines in particular, with producers presenting their brands for tasting and sale.

The festival, which opens at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, serves as a showcase of new wines from local producers for St Martin's Day and, according to the municipality, "lots of entertainment and socialising"  is guaranteed over the six days.

According to the organisers, the event, which is part of the City of Wine 2025 programme, aims to contribute to the development of the municipality and the region and offers visitors a programme of entertainment, gastronomy, wine tastings, regional products and handicrafts.

The City of Wine 2025 is a title shared by the municipalities of Borba, Estremoz, Redondo, Vila Viçosa and Alandroal, all in the district of Évora, with the motto "Serra d'Ossa Wines - Identity and Future - Brands that leave History!".

Musical shows, street entertainment, Alentejo singing and dancing, the Alentejo Regional Rafeiro Competition, a technical colloquium, folklore, sports activities, and fireworks are all attractions at the event.

The musical line-up, with free entry, is one of the highlights of the programme and includes performances by the Adiafa group on Tuesday, Monda the following day, fado singers from the municipality and Marco Rodrigues on the 13th, Nelson Freitas (14th), Vizinhos (15th), with the closing act being Sons do Minho on the 16th.

The programme also includes DJ performances, the São Martinho festival on the opening day from 18:00, the tavern circuit on the 15th from 11:00, animated by the groups Garridos and Fora d'Horas, and the procession "Da Vinha à Taberna" on the closing day at 14:00.

The festival is organised by the municipality, along with the Alentejo and Ribatejo Regional Tourism Authority, the Alentejo Regional Wine Commission (CVRA) and the Technical Association of Alentejo Winegrowers (ATEVA).
