Fiorentina said Tuesday that they have sacked coach Stefano Pioli after a dreadful start to the season.
The Florence side are bottom of Serie A with four points from 10 games after losing 1-0 at home to Lecce at the weekend.
"ACF Fiorentina can confirm that Stefano Pioli has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the first team," Fiorentina said.
"The club would like to thank him and his staff for the professionalism shown during their time at Fiorentina".
The club said former Siena and Parma midfielder Daniele Galloppa has been put in charge of the team temporarily.
Former Milan and Inter coach Pioli was on his second stint at Fiorentina after returning to Italy following a spell in charge of Saudi side Al-Nassr.
He is Serie A's third change of coach so far this season.
Last week Juventus sacked Igor Tudor and brought in former Italy coach Luciano Spalletti.
At the weekend Patrick Vieira parted company with Genoa and Italy's oldest club appointed the coaching team of Mimmo Criscito and Roberto Murgita on an interim basis.
Genoa beat Sassuolo 2-1 away on Monday to move off the bottom of the table.
